Success Story from Narconon Arrowhead's Prescription Drug Rehab Center
Every graduation, on Friday, I reflect on my previous week. It is my way of inventorying my progress in this drug rehab program, as well as how I feel physically, mentally and emotionally. I have been doing this since I was in the withdrawal phase of the program. The changes in me are remarkable. I have not really changed as much as I have become myself again. My drug use has been running my life for the past five years. I have been missing in action since I was 33 years old. I missed myself, only existing in a body. My mind and spirit were almost dead. Substance Abuse Treatment
Substance
abuse treatment on any type begins to be more and more effective as the addict or
alcoholic becomes more and more willing to be helped and to help themselves.
Most interventions prior to
treatment have this goal in mind, to get at least some willingness on the part of the addict.
This willingness is often tenuous and fleeting at the start of substance
abuse treatment.
Part of effective withdrawal would be the actions taken to extrovert the addict from current pains and discomforts that can and do play havoc with any willingness.

addiction despite any appearances, statements, or actions to the contrary. The more the addict wins at the battles of
addiction the more willing he becomes and the more energy he will expend on his own survival. Substance abuse treatment is about much more than simply ceasing drug or alcohol use.
Drug Rehab Information By State
At Narconon Arrowhead we do not use the term
rehab patient when referring to our program participants. Instead we use the word “student” as it more accurately reflects what is occurring in our program. At Narconon Arrowhead once withdrawal from use is achieved and is followed by a full bodily
detoxification then student is then ready to gain the life skills and abilities needed to pursue a drug free productive life.
Cravings, guilt and depression must be confronted, dealt with, and eliminated is one is to achieve a lasting drug free existence.

Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug. During the 1800’s opium
addiction was a major problem in the U.S.
Morphine was developed as supposedly a non-addictive substitute for opium but proved to be even more addictive.
The same is true of Heroin which was a supposedly non addictive replacement for morphine, but again is actually more addictive than opium or morphine.
In more modern times we know have methadone as a supposed ‘solution’ to heroin addiction.
Methadone is even more addictive than heroin. If withdrawal from heroin can be gruesome and harrowing, then methadone is even worse and can be life- threatening if unsupervised.

rehabilitation field I have not seen these numbers of individuals literally hooked on marijuana and unable to stop on their own.
We’ve known for a long time that marijuana use can lead to other drugs but it is shocking to see people whose lives are being destroyed by smoking pot just like others we are treating who are addicted to crack or alcohol.
I believe this is happening because the strength of the pot that is being smoked today is probably ten times stronger than the pot of 20 years ago.’
